Venetian starts.
Clay plaster is a dry-area finish, and we will tell you honestly when your surface needs something else. For wet and high-heat areas we install true Venetian plaster instead, troweled by a skilled plaster applicator with 15+ years on the tools.

A 3 to 4 day process.
Clay goes on in thin coats and every coat has to dry properly. Rushing it is how finishes fail, so we plan the job around the material instead of the calendar.
Day 1: Primer
Surfaces prepped and primed so the clay bonds evenly and the colour lands true.
Day 2: Base coat
The base coat goes on and is left to dry fully before anything else touches it.
Day 3: Finish coat
The finish coat is troweled and compressed to bring out the texture you chose.
Day 4: Inspection
We walk the walls with you and touch up anything that needs it before calling it done.
Dry times move with humidity and temperature. Clay is typically fully dry in 12 hours or more, and we plan on roughly 24 hours between coats.

Before you ask.
Is clay plaster durable enough for a family home?
Yes. Cured clay plaster is hard, scuff resistant and, unlike paint or drywall texture, repairable. Most dings can be re-wet and blended invisibly, which is why we call it the last wall finish you will need.
What does clay plaster cost in the Okanagan?
Applied clay plaster is priced by the square foot and varies with finish, texture and wall preparation. A single feature wall is a common starting point. Book a consultation and we will give you a firm number for your rooms.
Can clay plaster go over my existing painted walls?
In most cases yes. With the American Clay Up & EZ! binder and proper preparation, clay bonds to drywall, existing painted surfaces, masonry and most sound substrates.
How long does a typical project take?
Plan on a 3 to 4 day process: primer on day one, base coat on day two, finish coat on day three, and a final inspection with touch-ups on day four. Clay is typically fully dry in 12 hours or more, and we allow roughly 24 hours between coats depending on humidity and temperature.
Can clay plaster go in a shower or behind my stove?
No. Clay is a dry-area finish, so we do not install it in showers, wet areas, kitchen backsplashes or behind range hoods. Those surfaces get true Venetian plaster instead, applied by a skilled plaster applicator.
