The American Clay line.
Claymasters carries the full American Clay range: plasters, pigments, primers and binder, with real technical support and shipping across Western Canada.
A wall covering that works for a living.
American Clay is a blend of clays, aggregates and natural mineral pigments: a genuinely natural wall finish with no VOCs and no off-gassing, that can be repaired instead of replaced. It also works for a living. Clay pulls moisture out of the air and gives it back as the room dries, it resists dust and grime, and it absorbs odours.
- Zero VOCs and 100% natural ingredients
- Buffers humidity: absorbs moisture from the air, releases it as the room dries
- Naturally resists dust, dirt and grime, so walls stay cleaner
- Absorbs odours, and mold resistant per American Clay testing
- Repairable: most marks re-wet and blend away
- 239 colours: 224 across the range, plus 15 more made for Forté White
Original and Forté.
American Clay makes five Original plasters and three fortified Forté plasters. Coverage below is the manufacturer's own figure, per coat, per bag.
Original plasters
50 lb bags, except Enjarre at 63 lbLoma™
The original, and the one most walls start with. Matte and suede-like, made with reclaimed marble sand. It is the base coat under Porcelina, Lomalina and Marittimo, and a finish in its own right.
~180 sq ft per coatLomalina™
The middle ground: the silky softness of Porcelina with the easier hand of Loma. A finish coat over Loma, and a good choice when you want smooth without going full polish.
~200 sq ft per coatPorcelina™
Satin smooth and blended to a marble-like surface. This is the one people compare to the Venetian plasters of Italy. A finish coat over Loma.
~225 to 250 sq ft per coatMarittimo™
Named for the sea, and made with recycled crushed shells. Works as a smooth waxy surface or a textured sand finish depending on how it is troweled. A finish coat over Loma.
~160 sq ft per coatEnjarre™
The only single-coat product in the range, which takes real labour and cost out of a job. Semi-smooth through to rustic and textured, and it doubles as a base coat for the other Original finishes.
~100 sq ft per 63 lb bagForté plasters
fortified, pre-mixed with a breathable binder
Forté Base™
The base layer for the whole Forté line, and a suede-like finish on its own in a two-coat process.
~160 sq ft per coat
Forté Finish™
The strongest plaster American Clay makes, with a soft waxy texture. Built for busy homes and commercial walls. A finish coat over Forté Base.
~180 sq ft per coat
Forté White™
As white and bright as an earth plaster gets, for anyone who wants the classic look of traditional white plaster. The only plaster that takes the Illumina colour series.

The numbers behind the beauty.
Coverage
Per coat, per bag: Loma ~180 · Lomalina ~200 · Porcelina ~225-250 · Marittimo ~160 · Forté Base ~160 · Forté Finish ~180 · Forté White ~200 sq ft. Enjarre ~100 sq ft per 63 lb bag.
VOCs
Zero. No off-gassing during application or ever after. Clean up with water and a damp sponge.
Mold resistance
Mold resistant per American Clay product testing. Buffering humidity leaves less water vapour sitting on the wall, which is what feeds mildew on many painted surfaces.
Humidity buffering
Clay absorbs moisture from the air and releases it as the room dries. It softens humidity swings rather than holding a set level, and the effect scales with how much clay is in the space.
Drying time
Typically fully dry in 12 hours or more, with roughly 24 hours between coats. Humidity and temperature move the number.
Substrates
With the Up & EZ! binder: drywall, painted walls, masonry, plasterboard, cement coatings, gypsum and lime plasters.
